Ikamva Youth

Ikamva Youth's mission is to enable disadvantaged youth to pull themselves and each other out of poverty and into tertiary education or employment.

With 19 branches across South Africa, Ikamva Youth have constructed a model that combines, tutoring, careers advice and guidance, and after school provision to support young people in grades 8 through to 12 (ages 13 to 19). Their award-winning approach has helped them receive national recognition but it is the individual stories of lives impacted by their work that drew us to them.

With each branch costing just shy of £50,000 a year to run and the increasing financial challenges being imposed on all charities in South Africa, Bishop Simeon Trust has agreed to partnership with Ikamva to support three branches across Gauteng Province. Mamelodi, Ivory Park and Ebony Park sit in areas of high deprivation where young people are exposed to a host of dangers. Through our support, we can ensure that over 600 young people can access the additional support they need to move ahead into the best years of their lives.
