Organise an Event

The BST relies largely on community groups and individuals to raise the funds necessary to educate, support and care for vulnerable men, women and children living in South Africa. Accordingly, the BST promotes a variety of annual events that occur on a fixed day each year which all the supporters of the Trust can join in on. Such events include our annual Coffee morning, Quiz and Braai day.

If you would like to arrange your own fundraising event at any time during the year we will be happy to facilitate and to support you as much as possible. Please just contact the office on 0845 4301214 or email: info@bstrust.org

Fundraising Advice:

Once you have chosen your event there are many areas that you must cover to make it a success. The BST will do all they can to help, advise and support you in your preparations – so please contact the office if you would like to arrange an event.
Below is some basic advice if you are thinking of organizing a fundraising event:

  • The keyword is PLANNING - allow plenty of time to look at the various aspects of the event and challenge that lies before you.
  • Discuss with friends, colleagues, and management how easily the event can be organized.
  • Try setting up a working team to assist you with your event or activity
  • Arrange a date and give yourself enough time to cover all the planning (try to make sure the date does not clash with any other events in the area)
  • An easy way to collect funds for a particular event is to create a fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving. For instructions on how to make a Virgin Money Giving page please visit:  http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/
  • Some questions you could ask yourself :
    • Do we have the people to make all parts of the project run smoothly?
    • Will the event cost us anything to get off the ground?
    • What resources do we need?
    • How do we publicize the event?
    • What can go wrong? Do we have a contingency plan?
    • Can we get a celebrity (are there any celeb's in your local area, or people who may give their time)?

Again, please do not hesitate to contact the BST for any ideas, advice, materials, support or possibly a speaker for your event.
