Khayalethu
The Khayalethu Pre-school in Daggakraal has a registration of 100 children aged from 3 – 6 years. Daggakraal is a particularly impoverished area in a very remote and rural part of Mpumalanga Province. Apart from an excellent education, the children are provided with breakfast, lunch and refreshments from Monday to Friday. Some of the children are HIV positive and a number of them come from HIV-affected families. Funding from the Bishop Simeon Trust provides four of the teachers and two kitchen staff with a small stipend, and also helps towards the cost of feeding the children. The Department of Social Development also contributes to the school.
